The Reason for this Site (and why we hope you will help)The site was set up primarily as a focal point for all Eaves/Eves families who wanted to find out about their roots. It's true that most of you who visit will be hoping to learn more about who your ancestors were. This said, one has to be aware that by giving data about your families you will be helping others. My experience over the last two years has shown that, while many people have registered on eaves@evere.co.uk and have given data freely, there are others who haven't contributed a bean! Now, as an Englishman, I hadn't realised how careful you good people in the USA were about giving out any information at all. This was obviously naivety on my part, as I was blissfully unaware, when I started this site, that there are many no-gooders out there on the Internet compiling mail lists for marketing purposes. This, of course, may account for the reticence of many of you to let us have information. Clearly it is not our intention to sell any of you anything. Obviously we get a kick out of it when we are able to find a missing link or similar in someone's family tree. That's about the extent of it really. If you go to the Eaves database link, you will see how anodyne the information is that is needed. We hope you will take the time to send us what genealogical data you have.
